Formula: Wholesale price = unit cost ÷ (1 − target margin)
How to use the Wholesale Price Calculator
Set a wholesale price from unit cost and a target wholesale margin. Include the costs incurred to supply the wholesale customer.
Formula
Wholesale price = cost ÷ (1 − margin / 100).
Worked example
A $24 unit cost with a 40% margin requires a $40 wholesale price and leaves $16 gross profit per unit.
Interpretation and limitations
The margin must be below 100%. This model does not automatically include minimum-order discounts, retailer resale margins, sales tax or freight charged separately.
Wholesale Price questions
Does the margin refer to my retailer?
No. It refers to your margin on the wholesale sale. The retailer has a separate cost and resale price.
Can I use retail price divided by two?
That rule may ignore your costs. Verify the resulting wholesale margin using your own cost figures.
