How to use the Conversion Rate Calculator
Measure conversions relative to a defined traffic population. Enter conversions and visitors for a matching period and tracking scope.
Formula
Conversion rate (%) = conversions ÷ visitors × 100.
Worked example
45 conversions from 1,500 visitors produce a 3% conversion rate.
Interpretation and limitations
Visitors must be positive. Decide whether your denominator is users, sessions or another base before comparing reports. Multiple conversion events per visitor can produce a rate above 100%.
Conversion Rate questions
Should I use sessions or users?
Either can define a useful metric, but they answer different questions. Keep the definition consistent and label the result.
Why does my analytics rate differ?
