MRR Calculator

Normalize recurring subscription value into a monthly amount. Includes a worked example, formula and practical FAQs.

Monthly recurring revenue—

Formula: MRR = monthly customers × monthly price + annual customers × annual price ÷ 12

How to use the MRR Calculator

Normalize recurring subscription value into a monthly amount. Enter active monthly customers and their monthly price, plus annual customers and their annual subscription price.

Formula

MRR = monthly customers × monthly price + annual customers × annual price ÷ 12.

Worked example

100 monthly customers at $20 and 24 annual customers at $240 produce $2,000 + $480 = $2,480 MRR.

Interpretation and limitations

This is a simple recurring run-rate model. It excludes one-time fees and does not automatically handle usage-based billing, discounts, pauses, expansion or accounting revenue recognition.

MRR questions

Are annual payments counted fully in the sale month?

Not in this MRR calculation. Annual subscription value is divided by 12 for comparability.

What if customers have different plans?

Calculate each plan separately and sum the monthly amounts, or use a correctly weighted price for each billing group.
