CPA Calculator

Estimate advertising cost per recorded acquisition or conversion. Includes a worked example, formula and practical FAQs.

Cost per acquisition—

Formula: CPA = ad spend ÷ acquisitions

How to use the CPA Calculator

Estimate advertising cost per recorded acquisition or conversion. Enter spend and the count of the specific action you want to measure.

Formula

CPA = advertising spend ÷ acquisitions.

Worked example

$600 spend and 30 acquisitions give $20 CPA.

Interpretation and limitations

Acquisitions must be positive. Define the action consistently: a lead, signup and paid customer are not interchangeable. This tool includes only the spend you enter, not automatically the full sales budget.

CPA questions

Is CPA the same as CAC?

Not always. CAC commonly includes marketing and sales costs for new customers; CPA may measure an earlier action such as a lead.

What happens with no acquisitions?

There is no finite CPA because the denominator is zero. Review spend and conversion tracking instead of reporting zero cost.
